Hastelloy C22 is also named as Alloy C22 that is widely accepted austenitic molybdenum, tungsten, nickel, and chromium stabilized alloy with well-enhanced resistance to stress corrosion cracking, pitting, crevice corrosion. The high content of chromium is providing excellent resistance ability to oxidizing media and tungsten and molybdenum provides good resistance to oxidizing aqueous media that includes wet chlorine and mixture having oxidizing and nitric acid with the chloride ions.
Hastelloy C-22 is having resistance ability to chlorides, wet chlorine, acetic and formic acids, cupric and ferric chlorides, brine, etc.The nickel alloy provides very good resistance to the atmosphere wherein oxidizing and reducing conditions are encountered in the process streams.
It is advantageous into the multi-purpose plants wherein such upset situations frequently occur. Also, this nickel alloy resists grain boundary precipitations formations into the weld heat affected area, making it the right choice for the chemical process applications into as-welded situations.
